Cold email reporting timezones: reconcile midnight boundary differences
Convert timestamps to the same reporting timezone before comparing daily totals. The campaign's sending timezone does not automatically define every analytics date bucket.

Define the decision
A message sent late in one region can belong to the next calendar day elsewhere. Two correct reports can therefore show different daily counts while agreeing on the underlying events. Resolve the boundary and filtering definitions before investigating missing data.
Work through the procedure
- Record the timezone used by each report and whether the date range is inclusive or uses an exclusive end boundary.
- Choose one message near midnight and compare its timestamp in both zones.
- Rebuild a small daily reconciliation using the same zone and event definition.
- Keep scheduling timezone, reporting timezone and cap-reset timezone separate in operational notes.
Worked example
The following is a synthetic example for this procedure, not a customer result or performance benchmark.
Event: 2026-09-15 00:15 UTC
At UTC-04:00: 2026-09-14 20:15
UTC report bucket: September 15
Local worksheet bucket: September 14
Same event; different day boundary.Read the result
The one-day difference does not establish delayed ingestion or a missing send. If totals still disagree after aligning zones, check status filters, units and observation cutoffs. A precise boundary example is more useful than changing the campaign timezone to make a chart resemble a spreadsheet.
Check before moving on
- Label exported timestamps explicitly.
- Check seasonal offsets for the actual date when using named regions.
- Avoid comparing a partial current day with a completed prior day without disclosure.
Limits and next action
Zintara's current analytics overview buckets campaign messages by UTC send date. Its scheduling and delivery-budget settings are separate concerns. This guide explains reconciliation and does not claim a universal configurable reporting timezone across all views.
