IMAP folder mapping in Zintara: understand the INBOX boundary

Locate missing replies in the provider mailbox and compare their folder with the application’s current sync scope.

Reviewed · Examples are illustrative

Who this helps: Mailbox owners and administrators validating sending and reply access.

Define the decision

The reviewed Zintara reply synchronizer selects INBOX. It does not offer a general folder-mapping interface for Archive, Sent or arbitrary labels. Provider webmail can therefore show a message that the application has not selected for ingestion.

Work through the procedure

  1. Find the original missing reply in provider webmail.
  2. Record its mailbox, folder and message identifier.
  3. Inspect rules that immediately archive, move or forward replies.
  4. Run a controlled reply that remains in INBOX and compare the sync result.

Worked example

The following is a synthetic example for this procedure, not a customer result or performance benchmark.

Rule: messages matching the campaign subject move to Archive
Provider webmail: reply searchable
Application: only INBOX selected
Controlled comparison: a reply left in INBOX appears after sync

Read the result

This comparison isolates scope from authentication. If the controlled INBOX reply still does not appear, investigate sync errors and message matching rather than continuing to edit folder rules.

Check before moving on

  1. Check the actual connected account.
  2. Preserve the original message while diagnosing the rule.

Limits and next action

Do not promise a configurable folder mapping that the application does not expose. Review targeted routing changes with the mailbox owner instead of bulk-moving historical mail.
