Prevent contacting suppressed leads after imports and restarts

Keep suppression as a durable exclusion decision and check it when introducing campaign work. Deleting a contact is not a reliable substitute for remembering that outreach should stop.

Define the decision

Suppression can be undermined when every new export is treated as a fresh audience. The same address may return from another list under a different display name. Preserve the reason and reconcile new data with prior decisions instead of judging eligibility only from the latest row.

Work through the procedure

  1. Collect current suppression sources relevant to the workspace and account owner. Distinguish address and domain entries.
  2. Compare the proposed audience before enrollment. Flag unexpected matches rather than clearing exclusions to increase campaign size.
  3. Recheck after imports and restarts because they can introduce work outside the original review.
  4. If an excluded contact appears eligible, stop affected work and record the contact, campaign, exclusion value and time.

Worked example

The following is a synthetic example for this procedure, not a customer result or performance benchmark.

Old list: [email protected] opted out
New export: Alex Chen, same address
Different display name does not change the exclusion
Action: retain suppression and omit from the new campaign
Do not delete the record to import a 'fresh' copy

Read the result

The stable address preserves the decision. A genuinely different address requires identity and scope review rather than automatic assumptions. The objective is an explainable exclusion process. A lower eligible count can be evidence that the process is working, not a defect to repair by reactivating records.

Check before moving on

  1. Review a known suppressed address without sending a live diagnostic message to it.
  2. Keep reasons available to people preparing new lists.
  3. Review inherited or archived exclusions through the owning account context.

Limits and next action

Zintara's lookup considers blocklist entries belonging to the workspace owner's account and retained archived suppression; sending also checks relevant lead states. This supplements audience review. Never remove an unexplained exclusion merely to make an enrollment progress.
