Mailbox troubleshooting · Practical guide

Connect Microsoft 365 to Zintara with a complete send-and-reply test

Authorize the intended Microsoft mailbox and verify SMTP submission, IMAP access and inbox visibility before campaign use.

Reviewed · Examples are illustrative

Who this helps: Mailbox owners and administrators validating sending and reply access.

Define the decision

The reviewed Microsoft connection uses OAuth with SMTP and IMAP access. It is not a Microsoft Graph mail connector, and an interactive browser sign-in alone does not establish that either mail protocol is allowed.

Work through the procedure

  1. Choose the Microsoft connection in Email accounts.
  2. Select the correct organizational account and complete approved consent.
  3. Confirm the resulting mailbox identity in Zintara.
  4. Send a controlled message, reply to it and verify inbox appearance.
  5. Resolve any protocol-specific policy failure before campaign selection.

Worked example

The following is a synthetic example for this procedure, not a customer result or performance benchmark.

Browser authorization: complete
Account row: intended business address
SMTP test: works
Reply missing: inspect IMAP access and INBOX routing
Status: receiving-path issue remains open until retested

Read the result

The final reply test verifies more of the workflow than an OAuth success screen. Keep the outgoing and incoming message identifiers when diagnosing a missing thread.

Check before moving on

  1. Check that the Microsoft tenant permits the application and required protocols.
  2. Test the actual mailbox, not a different administrator account.

Limits and next action

Shared mailboxes and alternate sending identities require additional capability and permissions. Do not assume the standard connection automatically configures them.
